What to do about boy?

I recently started liking this guy at school and it seemed like he was into me too because he always wud walk me to my cles even if they were on the other side of the shcool as his next cl. Sometimes he'd hug me after he walked me. But my friend asked him about it and he said that he wouldn't go out with me but then backtracked and said who knows actually real chill. So what do i do?
